TFN eNews 09/25/2009: Did you take gains on this swine flu stock yet?

Published via e-mail broadcast on September 25, 2009

In today’s TFN eNews:

* Indian pharma wallah Dr. Reddy generates 25% gains for TFN readers!

* Michael Jackson and us

* Our updated stem cell report

Dear TFN eNews reader,

Don’t tell me we’re not doing anything for readers of of free service, the TFN eNews, and visitors of our TFN home page.

On August 20, we posted a free TFN Special Report, The Top Swine Flu Vaccine Stocks under $20, in which we recommended three stocks.

One of them, Sinovac (AMEX:SVA), gave us 30% gains on Aug. 28.

Today, the arguably largest and slowest-moving of the pig flu trio stepped on the gas. On Aug. 20, I recommended you “buy Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited (NYSE:RDY) under $16.50 for possible gains of 10-15% throughout 2010.”

Today, our Indian generics wallah is trading at $20.43. In our TFN tracking portfolio, this clocks in as a 25.95% gain.

I say we take it! And posted the sell alert on our home page.

Now, this one’s on us. We won’t add this one to the 63 double-digit gainers we have produced for members of our premium service Hot Stock Confidential so far this year. If you took our advice and are not an HSC member yet, I recommend you take some of your gains… and re-invest them into a 3-month trial subscription to HSC!

But only if you like making money!

*** TFN’s not only breaking the financial news… we’ve started to make ‘em:

We were the top business story at Newsblaze.com today: Back to the Basics with Today’s Financial News.

“Sweet,” said Andrew Snyder. “A story right below Michael Jackson on their homepage!”

*** “Investors have a lot to think about these days,” wrote Andrew today in his weekly update to his TFN Strategic Trader options traders.

“There’s the ever-growing threat of an over-reaching, over-taxing government. There’s all sorts of currency and inflation risk. How about Iran’s growing nuclear threat? And don’t forget about the banking sector. There are reports out today it may be far weaker than we realize.

“Add it all up and it’s no wonder the equities market has made a sizeable downturn this week. As risk increases, investors are moving back towards ’safe-haven’ plays. The Treasury market is a popular place once again.

“Fortunately, options investors have all the tools we need to take advantage of the situation without running to the safety of cash.

“After selling a significant portion of our portfolio over the past three weeks for strong, strong gains, our remaining positions are in a ’staging’ pattern, waiting for market conditions to ripen. Many of them with long-term expirations… so we have plenty of time for things to happen.

“One open play about to come to maturity is YRC Worldwide (NYSE:YRCW). As a covered call position, we are waiting for the company’s October 5.00 calls (YUXJA) to expire before we lock in our gains. So far, the pick has worked out beautifully. If the calls we sold were to expire today, we would lock in gains of more than 135%. The underlying stock is exactly where we want it, just shy of $5.00.

TST members are itching to take triple-digit gains on that play.

“I’m also quite happy with the action from Penn National and our corresponding January 30.00 calls (UQNAF). Even though the overall market has been fairly weak over the past several days, this stock has kept its strength. So far today, our options are up by double-digit proportions. I expect big things from this play.

“Look for next week to be relatively calm, especially when compared to the past five news-filled days. Next Friday will likely be the week’s most volatile session, with payroll and unemployment figures hitting the Street. If all goes as planned, we should be sitting on another round of big gains this time next week.”

Now, let me remind you that options aren’t for everyone. But if you’re already set up to trade them, I suggest you take a closer look at Andrew’s method: http://www.todaysfinancialnews.com/TST/china/ETSTK702.html

Quote of the Day:

“Contrary to the impression that Hispanics remain poor no matter how long they’ve lived in the U.S., upward mobility is still the rule, not the exception. Twice as many third-generation Hispanics live in households with incomes more than $75,000 a year (nearly one-third of all third-generation Hispanics do so) than live in households with incomes less than $25,000 a year.”
