What the billionaires are buying now

Baltimore — (TFN): The following was taken from the 60-Second Buzz on TFN. Watch this video.

It was 2001 when Brian Hicks and I developed the Billionaire Boys Club, a simple idea that allowed us to buy and hold the same stocks the billionaires were buying in the open market. We bought Midway after Sumner Redstone did, only to watch the stock soar from $3 to more than $12. We even bought WMS Industries after Redstone did, and watched the stock fly from $12 to $21.

We just followed T. Boone Pickens into Interoil after he bought a three million share stake in a company with $600 million market value. We followed, banking an $8 gain on the stock and a 90% gain on the option in just months.

But I’m not here to crow about gains, I’m here to bring the latest billionaire move to your attention.

Pickens is now big into wind energy. His Mesa Power company will start buying land and ordering 2,700 wind turbines that could generate 4,000 megawatts of electricity (enough to power a million homes). They’ll be built on over 200,000 acres of Texas panhandle.

“Oil fields have a declining curve - you find one, it peaks and starts downhill, you’ve got to find another one to replace it. It drives you crazy! With wind, there’s no decline,” says Pickens. “You need a giant plan for America.  Not the pissant 83 megawatt [windfarm] deals being stamped all over the country. There needs to be a huge plan from someone with leadership. It’s going to take years to do, but it has to start now.”

On that bullish note, it’s not too late to back up the truck on wind energy companies. Pure Energy Trader is currently doing its due diligence with a $3 stock with near-term $5 potential. Stay tuned…
