TFN Reader Grapevine: Green pennystocks don’t get any more volatile than this!
Today's Financial News - Posted May 13, 2009
TFN eNews reader James H. directed our attention to American Green Group (PINK:AMNE), hyper-volatile green penny stock. What do you think about it?

Baltimore—TFN: We at TFN consider ourselves a clearing house of good, solid, investment-related information. Which means we’re always glad to get tips or inside scoops from our readers. Since our editors are usually deep into their own research, we can’t follow up on all of the good information we receive. (Plus, our legal department doesn’t like us writing about stocks that trade at prices below $1.) So we just pass on the information to our readers.
You’re welcome to submit your favorite “secret stock tip” to us. Just one request: If you choose to contact us with a bit of grapevine… make sure your e-text isn’t all that cryptic!
Today’s Grapevine is as volatile as a hyperactive eight-year-old on a pogo stick who’s trying to juggle 7 jars of nitroclycerine. A penny stock in the truest sense of the world, some trading accounts won’t even let you buy it:
“American Green Group (PINK:AMNE) is a stock to watch. Put a call into the CEO lots going on.”
—James H., May 12, 2009 5:58 PM
American Green Group’s claim to fame is the acquisition of Ecosafe Premium Foam through one of its subsidiaries. The company also announced a 5-for-1 forward stock split, with a record date sof June 1, 2009. (All shareholders of record as of that date will be entitled to the forward split.)
They have no plans of doing a reverse split in the future.
AMNE aims to sell its “eco-friendly” insulating foam via distributors, installers, and territory franchises. They’re currently negotiating the sale of Broward County, Florida (1.8 million people and 800,000 housing units) for $250,000. This could set the benchmark cost for territories for the rest of the country.
Ecosafe Premium Foam® foam-in-place insulation is described as “an innovative, ultra-light weight, foam insulation, (…) an environmentally safe and friendly product made from nitrogen-based tripolymers.
The foam is non-toxic and contains no petrochemicals or solvents, no CFCs, and emits no ozone-depleting gasses.”
It’s advertised as helping to reduce home heating and cooling bills by 30%-50%. This is a penny stock with low trading volume… volatile at best, a prime candidate for possible pump and dump schemes at worst. Events like stock splits or announcements of territory sales could propel share prices up by thousands of percents in a few days.
Or a fraction of a penny in losses could translate into half your investment lost. A stock at the borderline between speculation and gambling.
But: It will tap into federal funds subsidizing the energy efficiency of homes. Plus, it has the terms “green” and “eco-” in its name and product. In the age of Hope and Change, what could possibly go wrong with it?
