Baltimore (TFN): Volatiliy is a byword of solar stocks, and many think that’s the key to success with these plays: Trade ‘em, don’t hold ‘em.
But advances in industry technology like the EU Energy Institute recently announcing that existing solar panels have an expected lifetime of 40 years, rather than the previously-assumed 30 years will help push this green energy resource.
In addition to the longer projected lifespan, the costs of volume production and installation are decreasing as consumer demand (and government subsidies) increases.
As usage becomes a greater possibility on a grand scale globally, the "buy and hold" strategy will begin to apply.
To help you find the right solar stock for whichever investment tact you prefer, we’ve compiled a list of all the solar industry-related companies we could find – everything from manufacturers of purified silicon to companies who make utility-scale batteries to the panel manufacturers themselves.
And in the interest of maximizing potential gains, we’ve limited the list to companies with shares currently priced between $1 and $15. All are traded on U.S. exchanges, including OTC and Pink Sheets.
