Baltimore (TFN): The share price for A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:APWR) has risen over 30% this morning on better-than-anticipated results for the fourth quarter.

When I reviewed this company for Hot Stock Confidential Members back in January, management was expecting a net income of $5 million. Instead, their fourth quarter closed with a net income $10 million — that’s 197.8% higher than Q4 2007.

Revenues in the quarter came in at $81.4 million — up 93.5% from the same quarter last year.

Fiscal year 2008 brought in a net income of of $28.5 million. That’s an increase of 87.4% when compared to the year prior.

Revenues for the year came in 73.6% higher than fiscal year 2007 at $264.9 million.

A-Power estimates for 2009 revenue is approximately $290 million. This is significantly lower than the $579.2 million analysts had been predicting.

The company is working hard to ramp up its wind turbine business. It currently has signed contracts with GE, Norwin and Fuhrlander.

Earlier this year, A-Power opened the China’s largest wind turbine production facility.

We remain bullish on this stock.
